Gaya: The body of a female student from Bihar was found under suspicious circumstances in Jharkhand. She was a second-year LLB student who had left home four days earlier. Her family stated that she had said she was going with Rahul; four days later, her body was discovered in a water-filled pit in Chatra, Jharkhand.
The family has accused Rahul of murder. They state that Rahul and Divya were in a romantic relationship, but it turned out Rahul was already married. Divya had previously filed a police case regarding this matter. She was scheduled to testify in court on July 1, but she was murdered before that could happen.
Divya Kumari Paswan was a resident of Achhama village under the Dobhi police station area in Gaya district and was a second-year LLB student. Her body was recovered from the Hunterganj police station area in Jharkhand’s Chatra district. Suspecting foul play, her family alleges that she was killed prior to the scheduled court testimony. The police state that the matter is being investigated from all angles, and a search for the absconding accused is underway.
Long-standing Relationship
According to her family, Divya had been in a relationship with Rahul Kumar, a fellow villager, for several years. Rahul was already married. Divya had previously lodged a police complaint against him over this issue. She was due to testify in court regarding that case on July 1, but she died under suspicious circumstances before that date. Before leaving home, she had informed her family that she was going out with Rahul.
Divya Left Home on June 24
Her family (specifically the deceased’s sister) stated that Divya left home on June 24 but never returned. Despite an extensive search, she could not be located, and her mobile phone was switched off. The police were subsequently informed. On Friday, the body of a young woman was recovered from a water-filled pit in the Hunterganj police station area of Jharkhand’s Chatra district. On Saturday, the body was identified as that of Divya Kumari.
Police Searching for the Accused
The family alleges that had the police acted promptly after receiving the missing person report, Divya’s life might have been saved. Suspecting murder, they have demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and strict action against him. However, the Sherghati police have denied the allegations of negligence. The police state that action was taken in accordance with the rules as soon as the information was received. Currently, the prime accused, Rahul Kumar, is absconding. Continuous raids are being conducted to arrest him.
